As Executive Director of Cappella Pueblo West, Carolyn Spear, has dedicated the majority of her time and energy to the community for over 16 years. Carolyn’s many years of selfless work have made a lasting impact on the team members, residents and their families. For Carolyn the most rewarding part of her job is having a positive impact upon the residents, “The most enjoyable part is helping people. I try to develop strong relationships with the residents’ and their families to support their personal connections.”
During this challenging time, the continued safety of the residents and staff of Cappella Pueblo West is of the utmost importance for Carolyn. The assisted living staff tries to find creative ways to modify their favorite programs and special events to keep the residents socially engaged. The challenges of social distancing include the strain of isolation and how it can lead to feelings of loneliness and sorrow. As Executive Director, Carolyn knows how important it is for residents to stay active and socialize safely to balance health and happiness.
As Executive Director Carolyn knows there are many things, outside her job description, that can support residents during these difficult times. Carolyn says “Adapting to the current pandemic challenges means going out of your way to help the residence make the most of every personal interaction with family and friends.” Since residents cannot go out as they normally would and their families cannot visit, Carolyn and the staff have implemented virtual family visits as well as window visits to promote joy and connection. Family members of a community resident, Loetta Kennedy, wrote praise about Carolyn and the staff for their hard work and care. “The acts of kindness were endless, and a huge praise for your strict following of the guidelines to keep residents and yourselves safe from this virus! We appreciate the continual updates and webinars that keep us informed on the community’s well-being.”
Residents and staff have applauded Carolyn for her strict dedication to the COVID guidelines in order to keep everyone safe and healthy. Her strong leadership is one thing that makes Cappella Pueblo West a very special community to be a part of. The entire Cappella family thanks Carolyn for her leadership and knowledge she shared over the years. The Cappella Pueblo West community is grateful for Carolyn’s radiant friendship and wishes her many more years of success.
